Sammi’s Journey & the Soul of Huni Aesthetics
You started your career as a beauty therapist and later became a cosmetic nurse - can you tell us what inspired that transition and how it’s shaped the way you treat and connect with your clients today?
My journey began as a beauty therapist, where I developed a passion for skin health and helping people feel good in their own skin. As my interest in advanced treatments grew, I felt a strong pull toward the clinical side of aesthetics.
How has your dual perspective - therapist and nurse- given you a different lens when it comes to skincare and whole-person client care?
My transition from beauty therapist to dermal therapist and finally now as a Cosmetic Nurse allowed me to combine my hands-on experience with in-depth clinical knowledge, giving me the tools to safely deliver transformative results. My background helps me see the bigger picture, blending beauty and science, I feel my clients appreciate this.
What do you think sets Huni Aesthetics apart? Is there a particular philosophy or experience you try to create for every person who walks through your doors?
At Huni Aesthetics, it is not just about treatments, and you certainly won’t be treated like a number. Business success for me is about building genuine connections with my clients/patients, educating and empowering them to create their best skin yet. I achieve this by creating personalised plans that align with their skin goals, provide genuine results and increase their confidence.
Choosing Murad & Making It Your Own
What drew you to Murad in the first place? Was it the science, the philosophy, the support or something else that just clicked with your values?
Whilst in New York many years ago I experienced the most beautiful facial ritual that was performed with Murad. It was a new brand to me then and the therapist was all about overall wellness. I purchased a few products under her recommendation and never realised that one day my love would extend to providing my clients with that same experience years later. I was lucky to work with Murad in a prior salon and feel in love with the results and philosophy of skin health.
Since bringing Murad into your business, what have been some of the most noticeable shifts - whether in client results, confidence in your offerings, or even the way you operate as a business owner?
I feel Murad has elevated the way I operate as a business owner. Having a professional brand like Murad on the shelves aligns with the standard of care I aim to deliver. It’s taken the guesswork out of home care recommendations and allows me to offer a complete, results-driven experience, from in-clinic treatments to at-home routines.
How have you made Murad ‘yours’ within the clinic? Are there specific treatments, skin journeys, or client rituals you’ve created that really bring the range to life at Huni?
The results speak for themselves. Clients are seeing noticeable improvements in their skin after clinical treatments and now at home between treatments, which helps build trust and momentum in their skin journey.
I’ve curated customised treatment protocols using Murad’s professional range to target specific concerns like acne, pigmentation and concerns of ageing, while still maintaining a relaxing, results-driven feel.
Adapting Through Change – Especially in QLD
Queensland’s changes to nurse-led injectables have created a lot of uncertainty for clinics like yours. What part of your business did that put pressure on the most?
The regulatory changes in Queensland definitely brought a wave of uncertainty, especially around how we deliver treatments involving prescription medications. The biggest pressure point was navigating the shift in consultation processes and ensuring that every aspect of our care remained compliant, safe, and seamless for our clients.
It challenged us to adapt quickly while still maintaining the personalised experience that Huni Aesthetics is known for. Communication became key not just with prescribers, but with our clients too. I had to be proactive in educating them about the changes while reassuring them that their care, safety, and results remained our top priority.
How has the Murad partnership helped you pivot or fill in the gaps - whether it’s generating income through retail, increasing facial bookings, or re-engaging clients who can no longer access injectables as easily?
Having a trusted, clinical-grade skincare brand like Murad has helped fill that gap beautifully — not just in terms of generating retail income, but also by increasing facial bookings and re-engaging clients who may not be able to access injectables as easily. It’s given clients a new avenue to invest in their skin and continue working towards their goals, which has been so empowering for them and rewarding for me as a practitioner.
Murad as a Business Shield & Growth Partner
Has Murad’s business support - like the Skinfluencer program, clinical content, or marketing tools - helped you build more visibility or connection with your community during this time?
Murad has provided opportunities to educate clients on long-term skin health and build deeper treatment journeys that extend well beyond injectables. Having a trusted, clinical-grade skincare brand like Murad has helped fill that gap beautifully — not just in terms of generating retail income, but also by increasing facial bookings in times of flux.
What’s been the most valuable part of being a Murad partner - not just for your clients’ skin, but for your confidence as a clinic owner and clinician?
Knowing I have a brand behind me that’s backed by science, delivers real results, and aligns with my values has been incredibly grounding, especially through times of industry change. It’s allowed me to confidently guide my clients through their skin journey with a complete offering: professional treatments, personalised home care, and long-term support.
For my clients, it means consistency and trust. For me, it means feeling supported, educated, and empowered to grow my business in a way that feels aligned and sustainable. It’s been a partnership that’s elevated Huni Aesthetics in more ways than one.
Looking Ahead
What’s next for you and Huni Aesthetics? Any exciting new treatments, plans for expansion, or goals you’re working toward in the next chapter of your journey?
There’s so much I’m excited about for the next chapter of Huni Aesthetics. I’m always looking for ways to evolve and offer more value to my clients, whether that’s through introducing new, evidence-based skin treatments or refining the client experience even further.
At the heart of it all, my goal remains the same: to create a space where clients feel seen, supported and empowered in their skin. Huni Aesthetics will continue to grow with intention: grounded in education, clinical excellence, and care.
